À la carte Chicago : 1st Annual French Food Festival coming to Chicago
November 9th-19th is right around the corner! In less than three weeks, à la carte Chicago will be in full-swing throughout the city with events, offers, and prix fixe menus from over 30 restaurants and businesses. Registration is now open for our many cooking classes and demonstrations, wine and cocktail tastings, degustation, film screening and more.
Are you intrigued by French cuisine and love the American classics? Rediscover the hamburger through the techniques of a French chef. More of a hands-on learner? Join Read it & Eat’s cooking and wine pairing class. Let Chef Madelaine Bullwinkel teach you how to make five recipes from Jacques Pépin’s latest cookbook. Impress your family by learning how to cook in cast iron for Thanksgiving! Bakery and patisserie fans should check out the two Food Enthusiats classes at the French Pastry School. If you want a glimpse behind the scenes, follow Chef Dominique Tougne for a day in the life of a chef.
Go on a culinary journey. Embark upon an oyster degustation from a French perspective at Shaw’s Crab House. Share a four course lunch and wine pairings with the Consul General of France and discover his favorite dishes.
Attend a cooking class, film screening, and cookbook sale all in one day! The Alliance Française hosts a full day of events inspired by the Oscar-winning film Babette’s Feast.
