On March 12th, Consul General Guillaume Lacroix visited Urbana-Champaign, Illinois to foster French language and education initiatives in the area.

His first visit was to Stratton Elementary, a school that offers a French-English dual language program to its students - Americans, as well as many from the Congolese community.

The staff and faculty of Stratton Elementary are tasked with teaching the classic American curriculum in both French and English. Schools such as Stratton have full support from France, as they allow for accessibility of the French language to all, even in the heart of the Midwest.

Consul General Lacroix was invited to meet with the College of Education of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for the "Illinois France Education Exchange". Welcomed by College of Education Dean James Anderson, the meeting was a great opportunity to discuss the specifics of the American curriculum as compared to that of France, and to encourage initiatives in language education as common goal in all continents.
