France 24, a French eye on world events
Since 2006, FRANCE 24 is a French perspective on world news, broadcast on a 24/7 basis, in French, English, and soon in Arabic and Spanish.
In an effort to compete with CNN and BBC, FRANCE 24’s editorial team is composed of 170 journalists of 27 different nationalities and its partners are the famous AFP, RFO, France Télévisions (France’s public television broadcaster) and TF1. Openness to the world’s diversity is the goal of FRANCE 24, to focus on France and Europe and to deeply analyze issues relating to environment, culture, international policy or health.
Based on the wishes of the President of the French Republic, FRANCE 24 is a means by which French nationals abroad can maintain a link with Metropolitan France. In the Midwest FRANCE 24 is only available on the trilingual website. The internet broadcast allows the users to personalize the site and addresses the growing need for information and pluralism.
