French Innovation Weeks in St Louis (MO)
France: A New Startup Nation

As part of French Innovation Weeks Midwest 2018, Business France Chicago presented a special program on France as a destination for international startups and investments. The event took place at Venture Café in the heart of the Cortex Innovation Community in St Louis, an innovation hub of bioscience and technology research, development, and commercialization.

Jean-Pascal Saucier, Director of Business Development, presented the French tech scene, a booming sector, especially in Paris which is now the home of the world’s largest startup campus. He also gave an overview of the programs, incentives, and opportunities available to young as well as well-established companies.

A panel discussion on navigating the cultural differences in management and work practices followed Saucier’s presentation. Four St. Louis based professionals who have experienced working and managing terms in a cross-cultural context discussed how differences have challenged their own ways and how they are overcoming the differences in the workplace culture. The workshop gave all the necessary tools and insights to anyone interested to successfully work across borders. 50 entrepreneurs, members of the tech community and representatives of St. Louis-area businesses attended the event. The discussions revealed an enthusiastic interest for France and for what the country has to offer. Contacts have already been made with entrepreneurs willing to work in France.
