How to apply?

  • Due to banking terminal issues, you will be asked to pay cash your visa fees from now on.

    For security reasons, luggage, suitcases, backpacks, and any other large bags are not allowed on the premises of the Consulate of France in Chicago. Please make the proper arrangements before visiting the Consulate, since there is nowhere to store bags in the building. You will not be allowed to enter the Consulate with any of the aforementioned bags under any circumstances. Thank you for your understanding....

1- The Consulate General of France in Chicago’s area

You may apply for a visa at the Consulate General of France in Chicago if you are resident in the following states :

  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Ohio
  • Wisconsin

We do not accept applications from B1/B2 visa holders. They must apply in their country of residence

2- Personal appearance

For security reasons, all applicants, except children under the age of 6, have to appear personally at the Consulate General of France in Chicago.

3- How to make an appointment?

The appointment systems opens every 5 weeks, if the day is not open yet please try to take your appointment later .

The visa section is open to the public on an appointment basis, with no walk-ins allowed.

No appointment can be made by phone or by e-mailing us.

Make sure you bring all the required documents when coming to the Consulate General.

As slots are limited, it is strongly recommended to book as early as possible - keeping in mind that you cannot apply more than three months prior to your departure date.
