Press Release: Ambassador Araud on France and the World

Laura Lucas Magnuson

Ambassador Araud on France and the World

France is the United States’ oldest ally, and France and the United States have re-energized their relationship, tackling instability in the horn of Africa, fighting terrorism in Iraq, supporting negotiations toward a U.S.-European free trade agreement, and planning for a United Nations climate change summit in Paris in December, while working overtime to get a nuclear agreement with Iran. France and the United States’ cross-investment and trade are also vibrant. On the occasion of the Ambassador’s first visit to Chicago, join The Chicago Council and Ambassador Gérard Araud as he talks about the mounting security and economic challenges facing France and Europe and the importance of a vibrant U.S.-French relationship.
