Tour of Nettelhorst School in Chicago to explore immersion options
On October 4th, Consul General Guillaume Lacroix and Cultural Attaché Tanguy Accart toured Nettelhorst School with Assistant Professor of French Selma Saidane to assess how to advance bilateracy programs, and to explore immersion options in partnership with Chicago Public Schools.
Nettelhorst offers an International Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Program. It serves some 800 students in Pre-K through 8th grade.
A French Program after-school has been in place since 2017, with a curriculum created from Pre-k through 7th grade as well as workshops for kids (5th-6th) and for adults. In February 2018, a French club for adults has also been created. The school even includes a cafeteria that uses a French bistro theme!
"Thank you, Principal Muhammad, for your commitment to French programs. We will visit more schools in the coming weeks" said Consul General Lacroix during the visit.
