Belding(MI) WWII Veteran George Babcock awarded the French Legion of Honor.

On November 12, 2020, in Belding (MI), Mr. George Babcock, 101, was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his contribution to the liberation of France by Guillaume Lacroix, French Consul General to the Midwest.

Staff Sergeant Babcock served as a platoon Commander with the 654th Tank Destroyer Battalion, "C" Company.
He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe campaigns and fought in St Lô, Mortain, Nancy, Metz...
