Columbus OH | WWII Veteran Lawrence McCauley receives the French Legion of Honor
On October 9, 2020, Ohio veteran Lawrence McCauley, 98, was awarded the French Legion of Honor by Consul General Guillaume Lacroix.
During WWII, McCauley served with the 65th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and participated in the D-Day landing and the battle of Normandy, as well as the Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He was among the first American troops to enter Buchenwald concentration camp in April 1945.
